Dear Anne,

??I?m writing to ask your quick assistance?PennEnvironment has an entry-level position open in our Pittsburgh office for a recent or upcoming college graduate to join our 2-year Fellowship program, so I wanted to see if you knew of graduating seniors who may be interested in applying.

They can review the job description here. To apply, just send an email to our Clean Water Advocate, Erika Staaf, at

I?m hoping you will forward this job announcement to any seniors or recent grads that come to mind?or to faculty or department heads who may be able to share this with graduating seniors in their department. It?s really a great opportunity for a recent grad who can see themselves making a career out of protecting our environment.

They will  learn all the important tools of the trade for doing this work?citizen organizing, advocacy, working with the media, building coalitions and more.  Most of their time will be spent working on the issue of Marcellus Shale gas drilling, but they?ll also hone their skills working on clean energy and global warming campaigns, projects to preserve Pennsylvania?s rich natural heritage, and other clean water campaigns.

The position is a paid position and includes a package of benefits for the Fellow?you can learn more (or candidates can learn more) by viewing the job description on our website here.

Please don?t hesitate to email me with questions about this or any of PennEnvironment?s work.

Thanks in advance for helping us find an entry level candidate who may be one of the next great advocates or organizers in the environmental movement?and thanks for your ongoing involvement and support.

David Masur

Summer job

Hi, guys –

ES alum Becky Swerida e-mailed to let me know about a summer job prospect.

I think it would be a good opportunity for someone who has taken a number of science courses, especially field courses, and particularly marine-oriented field courses like ES 306, ES 350, and Bio 228.  Also Dan Terlizzi’s ES 317 Chesapeake Bay course – it doesn’t have a lab, but it deals directly with the project in question.

            Check it out, below!

            Good luck! – John

Hi Doc,

A professor at Horn Point (Cambridge MD) sent this around. Elizabeth North works with large scale modeling in the Chesapeake Bay. I’m guessing this work would be concerning her new project on oyster larvae transport. Think anyone might be interested?

~Becky Swerida

We are hoping to hire a full time summer undergad to help us with sample prepping and boat cruises. If you know of someone who would be good and is looking for a job, would you please let me know?
