Subject: Graduate Research Fellowships Available in Wind Energy and Storage at the University of Delaware

Hi all, Please share this with you undergraduate and master’s students. The University of Delaware has graduate student research fellowships for students with research interests in wind energy or storage. We are particularly interested in fellows who are interested in socio-economic/cultural dimensions of wind energy, cost of energy, including social costs, grid integration; marine logistics; environmental risk assessment; and spatial planning as well as in wind meteorology, resource assessment and wind turbine wakes and geological and geotechnical aspects of wind projects.

To be eligible for a fellowship, the student must be admitted to one of the following graduate academic programs. in Marine Policy (MP), Geography, Physical Ocean Science and Engineering (POSE) or Geological Sciences. Fellowships include a tuition waiver for the Fall and Spring semesters and a stipend. Twelve-month stipends are approximately $26,000 for Ph.D. students and slightly less for Master’s students. Review of applications will begin immediately and decision made in January/February 2017, so early application is encouraged.

More details and links to the academic application, our research center, and our 2 MW wind turbine are in the attached.

We conduct a lot of research on offshore wind power, and as this is an exciting time in the movement offshore, studying now presents an excellent opportunity to gain expertise and perspective. Our work on grid integrated electric vehicles is also at the cutting edge and we encourage those interested to inquire.

If there are any questions, please fell free to contact me.
